In this special edition of our weekly column, we, James Irwin and Karson Helsel, would like to share with our loyal readers our plans for the future.

James Irwin:

Throughout my four years here at Bishop McCort, I sought to get as involved as I possibly could. I served as a captain and four-year letterman on the varsity soccer team, in addition to being a participating member of the tennis team and Ski Club. At the same time, I worked with numerous school clubs, including L’Education en Vogue, and served as Senior Class President on the Student Council. My work in the classroom also earned me membership in both the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics society.

After leaving Bishop McCort, I plan to attend the University of Notre Dame. While there, I will pursue a major in Management and Organization through the University’s Mendoza College of Business. Besides my studies, I hope to continue many of my extra-curricular pursuits in college, including student government. After also achieving a master’s degree, I hope to use my newly earned talents and knowledge to lead a philanthropy-based corporation.

My advice for Crushers: get as involved as you possibly can. Most of my greatest high school memories can be traced back to my roles in the school’s various clubs and teams, through which I met most of my closest friends. Find a healthy balance between rigorous academics and extra-curricular activities, and make the most of everything.

Karson Helsel:

As a Crusher, I have been a part of many sports and clubs. I played soccer, basketball, and tennis and helped lead the teams in many District Championships. I was a defender in soccer and forward in basketball. In addition to sports, I was involved in many clubs such as; National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, SADD, and L’Education en Vogue. It is a bittersweet feeling leaving this all behind.

After graduating, I plan to attend Saint Francis University. My intended major is Physician’s Assistant. After my five years of schooling, I plan on going for my doctorate and use my knowledge to pursue a job in my field.

My advice for future and current Crushers is to meet new people and make many memories with all of them. The years fly by quickly, so cherish all of them.

This is the final of “Where Are They Going?”

James Irwin and Karson Helsel signing out.
