Across the country, schools at every level are training students on how to deal with an active shooter. Polics are even going into elementary schools and telling them what to do in the case of a shooter. According to an ALICE or Active Shooter Response Training video, students are instructed to keep moving and not hide in a corner. As referenced on the organization’s website, “ALICE Training is based around five key tenants that make up its name: alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate.” Six states require active shooter training. In the wake of the tragic shooting in Florida, schools across the country are working to mentally prepare to respond to violence.
